Cool
Word Game is a free association vocabulary game that’s easy to learn and
challenging to play.
The
game starts by displaying two words, mostly adjectives.
The
object of CWG is to us these two words to describe a noun, idea, or concept that
has attributes of both words, a “Cool Word.”
Examples:
Noisy
and Running -: a motorcycle, a diesel engine,
Nascar, an allergy sneeze, a poorly working refrigerator, etc….
Green
and Pasty – wasabi, snot, pesto, lawn mulch, a sick alien, a sick hippie, etc..
Modern
and Cushiony – a Swedish couch, fake
boobs, CEO pay, etc…
The answers can range form the mundane and
straightforward to humorous and obscure.
The first person to name the “Cool Word” scores
points. Sometimes several people may blurt out good answers simultaneously. When
this happens a vote is taken to determine the best answer.
Another variation is to allow about 10 seconds for
everybody to come up with an answer, and then vote on the best one. A player may
not vote for him or her self. If there is a tie, nobody gets the points.
How
points are calculated.
Each word has a difficulty score ranging from 1-10.
These have been determined by votes of previous users. The overall difficulty
score is simply a multiple of the two individual word difficulty scores.
Setting the difficulty score up to 10 shows all
available words rated 10 or less. Words that are rated 10 are almost useless,
because their obscurity or specificity precludes them being usable.
